چکیده
Background. Studies have reported a higher preva-lence of hypogonadism in men with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) than non-diabetic men. The pattern T2DM using gonado-tropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) stimulation test Sub-Saharan Africa is unknown. Objective. This study was conducted to determine the prevalence and Nigerian T2DM. Methods. A cross-sectional involving 358 179 as controls. Androgen Deficiency Ageing Male (ADAM) questionnaire administered. Luteinizing (LH) follicle-stimulating (FSH) both at 0 hours 4 after subcutaneous buserelin injec-tion, fasting total testosterone (TT), plasma glucose glycated haemoglobin were measured. Ninety-nine selected by randomiza-tion computer underwent GnRH test, injection 100 micrograms buserelin. Results. mean TT significantly lower compared controls (8.79 ± 3.35 nmol/L vs 15.41 3.79 nmol/L, p < 0.001). 80.4%, comprising 38.5% severe 41.9% mild hypogonadism. LH FSH levels (9.62 6.82 IU/L 8.24 5.91 IU/L, = 0.022 8.50 8.17 5.17 3.89 0.001 respectively). There statistically significant exaggerated response (±SD) in-jection 0-hour (58.58 40.72 8.38 6.10 23.03 18.02 8.41 7.45 respectively) who had tests. Conclusion. shows that accounting for most cases. Hypergonadotropic hypo-gonadism occurs more frequently Nigeria.
